The BC418 MA is currently the top range model and can be used wherever there is a power point. It is a high-precision instrument giving a total body printout which includes weight, basal metabolic rate, body mass index, body fat percentage, body fat mass, fat free mass, estimated muscle mass, total body water and goal setter target ranges. Through the use of the 8 polar electrodes (one pair for each limb), it can also provide separate readings for the right arm, left arm, trunk, right leg and left leg. On entering the patient's height, age and gender (either via the display keyboard or a connected PC computer), the BC418 MA records the patient's weight and then makes limb to limb impedance measurements, calculating body composition levels for each limb plus the trunk. This can then be printed using the inbuilt printer or saved to the computer. It has an RS232C interface and is supplied complete with a 5V AC adapter. Its Class III approval makes it ideal for medical use.

Tanita GMON Health Monitor software is available which is suitable for use with the BC418 MA. The software allows an active database to be maintained so that reports may be generated and stored or printed for later reference.
