The Harpenden Anthropometer is a counter recording instrument that can be effortlessly operated from the tips of its branches. By means of his free fingertips, a user can feel his way to his desired measuring points in order to obtain a degree of accuuracy not possible with conventional anthropometers. This instrument gives a direct reading, accurate to the nearest 1mm, over a range of 50mm to 570mm and, by adding the beam extensions provided, heights of up to 2 metres can be measured by adding the value of each beam extension to the counter reading.
The anthropometer is constructed mainly of light alloy anodised to its natural colour. The sliding member operatives via miniature ball bearing rollers in order to ensure a movement that is free yet without cross-play. Each anthropometer is supplied in a well made carry case complete with straight and recurved branches, beam extensions and a spare counter.
